Following a national recruitment, the West Valley-Mission Community College District Board of Trustees has selected four finalists to succeed retiring Chancellor John Hendrickson. The finalists will be interviewed by the Board of Trustees and participate in campus forums on May 2nd and 3rd.
"With the help of Community College Search Services and a terrific search committee of faculty, staff, and students, we were able to secure a very talented and diverse pool of candidates from across the United States with the experience and vision to guide us into the future," said Associate Vice Chancellor Brad Davis, who chaired the search committee.
The four finalists are:
Jamillah Moore, Ed.D.
Dr. Moore currently serves as the President of Los Angeles City College. She holds an Ed.D. from the University of San Francisco.
Patrick Schmitt, Ph.D.
Dr. Schmitt currently serves as the President of Pierce College in Puyallup, Washington. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.Dr. Schmitt will present at a public forum for the District community at
Daniel Seymour, Ph.D.
Dr. Seymour is currently the Vice Chancellor for Planning & Institutional Effectiveness for Houston Community College. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon.
David Bugay, Ph.D.
Dr. Bugay is Vice Chancellor of Human Resources for the South Orange Community College District. He holds a Ph.D. from Union Institute and University.
The candidates will present to the District community at public forums scheduled at both West Valley College and Mission College on May 2 and 3, 2012. Forums held on the West Valley campus will be conducted in the Boardroom in the Administration Building. Those scheduled for Mission College will be held in TAV Room 130 behind the Library. All members of the District community are invited to attend the open forums and meet the candidates, and are encouraged to provide feedback directly to the Board of Trustees by submitting evaluation forms available at the forums. The Board of Trustees hopes to have its next chancellor in place by July 1, 2012
