Dr J. Laurel Jones

Dr. J. Laurel Jones has been the President of Mission College since August, 2010.
Jones is a native Southern Californian whose fulltime educational career began in 1988 at Mt. San Antonio College, Walnut, California where she taught English courses as part of the Developmental Education Program. As a member of Mount San Antonio College, Dr. Jones was active in providing professional development for instructors and served as the Writing Across the Curriculum Coordinator, After School College Coordinator and held the position of Academic Senate Secretary.
In 2001, Dr. Jones began her administrative career at Mt. San Jacinto College, Menifee, California where she was a Dean of Instruction, responsible for Distance Education, Library and Learning Resources, Professional Development, Basic Skills and Honors Programs and she also facilitated the Library Learning Resource Center building as a result of a local bond measure.
In 2005, Dr. Jones moved to Northern California as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Solano College where she stayed one year before moving to Las Positas College in Livermore, California where she served as Vice President of Academic Services.
Dr. Jones has her BA in English from Taylor University, Indiana; her MA in English from California State University at Fullerton, and her Ed.D in Educational Leadership from University of LaVerne. She is a recent graduate of the Advanced Future Leader’s Institute offered through the American Association of Community Colleges.
